The United States embassy in The Hague issued a warning to Americans on Tuesday to be cautious in light of the two recent attacks on Jewish centres in the Netherlands and a small explosion outside an office complex in the Zuidas business district.
“Terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in the Netherlands,” the statement says.
The message did not come with an increase in the country’s travel advisory. That stands at Level 2, which calls for Americans in the country to “exercise increased caution..” The level was last assessed in August 2024.
Americans are advised that “terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls,” and other public gatherings.
Travelers are encouraged to avoid demonstrations and keep a low profile.
None of the three explosions, all of which took place at night, caused more than minor damage. Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with an explosion outside a synagogue last weekend.
